GORE-TEX®
Technology

The collaboration between Rekord and GORE-TEX® represents a combination of technological excellence and attention to detail. At Rekord, we use and test renowned GORE-TEX® technology to ensure that our products offer uncompromising performance in terms of waterproofing, breathability and durability.

GORE-TEX® fabrics are created by laminating a special membrane, resulting in high-performance, 100% waterproof fabrics. The GORE-TEX® membrane has a dual-component expanded PTFE structure with microscopic pores that prevent water from penetrating but allow water vapor to escape, ensuring breathability.

To ensure waterproofing and durability, the membrane is sandwiched between high-performance fabrics, forming laminates suitable for garments, footwear and gloves. In addition, seams are sealed with GORE-SEAM® TAPE, preventing water infiltration.

GORE-TEX® fabrics are guaranteed to be completely waterproof, windproof and breathable for the entire life of the product.

GORE-TEX®

At Rekord, we use GORE-TEX® technology in the production of our shoes and subject each GORE-TEX® element to extensive and precise testing.

Cut

In fact, once the GORE-TEX® socks are cut in the cutting department, they are transferred to the “GORE-TEX® sock” department where all the various pieces are sewn together by zigzag stitching.

Thermowelding

Next, heat sealing, or taping the seams with GORE-TEX® tape, is performed to prevent water from entering the holes created by the needle when sewing the two pieces together.

Waterproof test

After heat-sealing, the socks enter the BPM, an aquarium where the upper is inserted and inflated.
Our workers check that there are no air bubbles escaping.
This test is performed on 100% of Rekord’s production.
Once it has been verified that there are no air leaks in the aquarium, the sock is passed through a dryer and then taken directly to hemming.

Centrifuge test

We use the centrifuge for GORE-TEX® testing, immersing the shoes in water and centrifuging them for 30 minutes to ensure no leakage.
We test about 24 pairs of shoes per day, ensuring compliance with standards.

All centrifuge test reports are managed by a staff member who files them daily.
Once a month, all centrifuge test reports are sent to GORE-TEX®, which requests that all reports of tests performed be sent to GORE-TEX®.

Flex test

GORE-TEX® footwear also undergoes daily Flex testing, simulating walking to test flexural strength and waterproofness, with cycles varying between 100,000 and 200,000.
