Lasting
The lasting process begins with the careful positioning of the uppers, which are arranged in a line after going through the hemming stage, each with its own specific last. Next, the insole board is applied: after inserting the last inside the upper, a precise amount of glue is applied to secure the insole, carefully following the shape of the last. This initial step is crucial to ensure that the upper adheres perfectly to the last.
After this stage, the laces are pulled to further shape the upper, preparing it for pre-lasting, a delicate step in which a specific machine pulls the upper so that the toe box fits perfectly. Having completed the pre-lasting, we move on to shoehorning, a similar step during which the back sides of the upper are shaped to close it completely around the insole mounted on the last.
Once the upper has acquired the final shape of the shoe, we proceed with the scoring of the sole.
This is done by applying a layer of glue and, depending on the type of shoe, may proceed with the addition of rubber rands or continue without.
The uppers thus prepared are then allowed to rest to allow the glue to dry, a process that can vary from 10 to 20 minutes depending on the type of glue used and product specifications.
The next step involves activating the bonding process in a special oven, where the heat reactivates the glue, preparing the uppers for sole application. After leaving the oven, the soles are applied to the uppers through two successive pressings to ensure perfect adhesion: an initial press, Iron Fox, followed by a Carfax Sinergy.
This dual process ensures that the aesthetics of the shoe are flawless.
The final stage of assembly takes place in a refrigerated environment, where rapid cooling consolidates the bonding.
With the last removed from the upper, the shoe moves on to the final stages of finishing: detailed cleaning, removal of any mastic residue, and insertion of the footbed.
Thus the shoe is ready for final quality control.
